Men’s S/F: Sibling Rivalry and Top Seed Out
The Men’s Semi-Finals kicked off with a 75-minute clash between the two Guatemalan brothers, Alejandro and Josue Enriquez. Although Alejandro initially lost to last year’s SACC Costa Rica Open champion Josue with a score of 6-11, he regrouped and regained control of the court from the second game onwards. Despite Josue's shift to a more aggressive style, an atmosphere of respect and high professionalism pervaded the intense competition for a place in the Finals. The two seeded players fought long and hard, with Alejandro emerging as the tournament’s Finalist.
Shortly after, the No.2 seed, Jeremias Azaña from Argentina, faced off against the Malaysian Sanjay Jeeva in a match that extended over five suspenseful games. Supported by the crowd, Azaña managed to level the score in the fourth game. However, Jeeva consistently captured the audience's attention with his confident court presence and entertaining cross-court shots. The Malaysian's persistence, combined with his speed and notable flexibility, eventually secured him a place in the Finals, causing a notable upset.
Alejandro Enriquez vs Jose Enriquez (6-11, 11-1, 11-6, 11-8)
Sanjay Jeeva vs Jeremias Azaña (9-11, 11-2, 6-11, 11-9, 11-8)
